The show aimed to reflect on the refugee crisis

Épica i Singular

Épica i Singular is an employment experience for young people funded by the Servicio de Ocupación de la Generalitat de Catalunya. La Fura dels Baus, along with its Epica Foundation, the Catalan Labour Foundation for the Construction Sector (FLC) and Badalaona’s Municipal Institute of Employment Promotion (IMPO) share the goal of developing and improving new abilities and opportunities for young unemployed people to find a job.

This new experience within the framework of its Youth Guarantee programmes, offers two lines of work for young people under 30.

The first one, which we may call “of employment”, consists in developing a series of professional abilities and competences by co-creating a theatrical project with the rest of participants, La Fura dels Baus and other professionals. This included the training on audiovisual techniques and construction works (vertical work, structure assembly, etc) which would be used later for the final show.

The second line, offers young participants a series of resources to facilitate the implementation and entrepreneurial projects, being those inside the creative industry sector, the construction sector, the media sector or others.

Among the 6 months of duration, different industry professionals and inspiring collectives came to the installations of the Fundación Laboral and gave lectures, masterclasses and workshops to the participants. Always with a final show in mind, the alumni chose the theme of the refugee crisis and gender violence to work about.

Kalliópê took part in the shape of a workshop and students created different proposals to be added into the final performance.

People connected to Kalliópê during the warm-up, at the beginning of the show
