BAU – The Brain

Media students from BAU Design College of Barcelona worked for four weeks in the Epica Foundation to develop a crossmedia performance with the Brain as the subject matter.

When creating the performance, students would have Kalliópê as an indispensable element to be used. It must guide the audience through the space, give them clues throughout the show and make them interact with the events that took place.

During the process, students collected ideas and research carried out on the chosen topic, the Brain. This included processes, illnesses, and even psychedelic effects that happen inside our heads.

After sharing ideas with the subjects, each working group elaborated a part of the plot or experience based on the questions risen during the preparation of the topic. What are the limits of artificial intelligence? How can a synaesthetic experience be transmitted? Is it possible to recreate the effects of a hallucinogenic trip? What attracts and repels the human brain, and how do these reactions detonate?

Thus, the students designed all multimedia contents hosted in Kalliópê, audios, graphics, settings and actions for a performance.
